Explanation
Numeral bases show that even familiar numbers can be assembled through different linguistic calculations. The mathematical value remains stable while its verbal architecture changes.
Example
Basque builds 256 through a hybrid pattern of hundreds, twenties and a remainder. Diola-Fogny can express 51 as ‘two twenties and eleven’, while Mandarin 26 is transparently ‘two ten six’.
Counterexample
English twenty names 20 but does not make the entire English numeral system vigesimal.
